SINGAPORE. Valiram Group has secured a master travel retail contract covering 30,000sq ft of shopping space for Resorts World at Sentosa, The Moodie Report understands.

The agreement represents one of the most important travel retail developments in Asia. Resorts World at Sentosa is a 49-hectare integrated resort located on the tropical island of Sentosa, just 15 minutes away from downtown Singapore.

Resorts World at Sentosa offers a major travel retail opportunity for Valiram Group
The complex will feature Universal Studios Singapore, two ultra-luxury hotels as well as four other hotels, a casino, the world’s largest oceanarium, a water park, an upscale spa centre and many other attractions, including MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) facilities for 35,000 guests.

Although Valiram Group declined to comment, reliable sources in the brand community confirmed that Malaysia’s leading luxury retailer has secured the travel retail operation for the leisure-to-entertainment resort due to open towards the end of this year.

The travel retail offer will be targeted at international visitors from a range of countries including China, Indonesia and Russia. It will embrace leading luxury fashion, accessory and watch boutiques, a beauty hall and a general watch store housed in an upscale travel retail environment that will include an exclusive Champagne bar.

The offer will feature individual brands’ store facades and Valiram is understood to be talking to a number of the world’s biggest brand houses to take up space in the development.

Given the multi-dimensional nature of the attractions being built, notably the casino and Universal Studios Singapore, plus the extensive hotel facilities, the travel retail opportunity is likely to be in high demand from luxury brand companies. “There’s nothing like this in southeast Asia, it’s a one-of-a-kind development,” noted a source in Singapore’s tourism community.

We’ll bring you more details soon on this important travel retail development.
