Singapore, 19 January 2010 – Marina Bay Sands will feature an array of exciting shopping, dining and entertainment line-up as it celebrates its first Chinese New Year, the most significant traditional holiday in Singapore.
With the Marina Bay Sands Hotel set to be a popular choice over the long New Year weekend, hotel guests can join in the official celebrations at the auspicious time of 9.18am on 3rd February. Moving to the rhythmic beats of the drums, the dragon and lion dancers from the award-winning Long Tian dance troupe will begin their spectacle at the hotel lobby, Tower 1 before dispersing to the retail mall, the casino, Sands Expo and Convention Center and all the way up to the Sands SkyPark, 200 meters above ground to spread good luck and fortune.
Entertainment: The headlining act this festive period will be a grand performance by Taiwanese singing legend Fei Yu Ching on 20th February. The one-night only concert will be held at the Grand Ballroom, located in the Sands Expo and Convention Center. Tickets go on sale today with prices starting at S$88. Other entertainment line-up includes a spectacular performance, designed specifically for the Chinese New Year by Strange Fruit, an Australian open-air performing arts company. The act titled “Double Happiness” will feature exceptional dancers depicting a love story between an Emperor and Empress, using acrobatic and theatrical skills, while swaying five meters over the canal at The Shoppes. The performance will take place daily on the bridge connecting the corridors at Level B1 (outside Coach). Show times are as follows:

Shopping: There will be no change to the operation hours of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands with retailers open throughout the festive period. This includes the eve of Chinese New Year, allowing shoppers to indulge in the spring festival promotions. From 21st January to 15th February, Lotus on Water, a leading Feng Shui gallery at The Shoppes, will set up an exclusive jadeite consultation booth at Level B2 (in front of Banana Republic). Shoppers will also receive a complimentary spring couplet calligraphy scroll on 29th January and 30th January at 2pm, 5pm and 7pm.
Other promotions at The Shoppes include a chance to win a pair of tickets to The Lion King Broadway musical every day from 21st January to 15th February 2011. Shoppers spending S$188 in three same day receipts at The Shoppes, including restaurants and cafés like Hide Yamamoto, Imperial Treasure Fine Chinese Cuisine, KU DÉ TA and Jin Shan qualify for the draw. Festive Dining: For a one-of-kind Chinese New Year gastronomical experience head to Sky on 57 for an exclusive set lunch (S$128++) and dinner (S$168++) created by renowned Singapore chef Justin Quek from 1st February to 11th February. Down at the hotel lobby, Rise Restaurant will offer guests another exceptional dining encounter with traditional fare like stewed pork knuckle with black moss and braised dried scallop soup as part of our special Chinese New Year buffet. Pricing starts at S$48++ for lunch and S$88++ for dinner. Leading Chinese restaurants Imperial Treasure Fine Chinese Cuisine (located at Level 2, Casino) and Jin Shan (located at Tower 2, hotel lobby) have also prepared exclusive menus for the New Year feasts.
