40 Primary Students Stay Overnight at Hong Kong's Ocean Park's Aqua City

(Hong Kong – 27 February 2011) A group of more than 40 primary school students from the 1st Hong Kong Canadian Scout Group and their parents were first to experience a novel night-time learning adventure yesterday at the Grand Aquarium, a brand-new oceanarium at Ocean Park. During daytime, the group engaged in a behind-the-scenes tour at the Grand Aquarium’s backroom facilities and viewed a fish feeding demonstration.

At night, the students took a walk inside the Grand Aquarium to see the nocturnal life of various animals before setting camp in front of the 13-metre giant viewing panel for a very special night in the aquarium.

Besides, the group also had behind-the-scenes tours to the Giant Panda Adventure and Bird House facilities as well as a night exploration of the Emerald Trail.

"I dreamt I made friends with the sharks," said 5-year-old Charlotte Work, one of the participating students in the group who had this unique opportunity to connect with the ocean.
The programme aims to give participants a chance to learn about marine life from a fresh perspective and in turn channel their knowledge into action on marine conservation. It will be officially launched in April for public enrollment. Anyone interested in this program can find out more information by calling the Education Hotline of Ocean Park Academy, Hong Kong on 3923 2328.
