SHANGHAI DISNEY RESORT GET OUTSIDE ON WORLD EARTH DAY

To coincide with the World Earth Day, April 22, Shanghai Disney Resort partnered with local NGO "Shanghai Roots and Shoots" to launch an organic garden "Adopt A Garden" program at Liuzao Primary School in Chuansha New Town, Pudong, near to where Shanghai Disney Resort will be located. Volunteers from the Shanghai Disney Resort management and project development teams were joined by volunteers from the Command Center and Administrative Commission of Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone, Shanghai Shendi Group and The Walt Disney (China) Company Limited to share knowledge about environment protection initiatives, the importance of food safety, and to get hands-on experience planting vegetables in the school's very own organic garden.

"Disney is committed to being a valuable community partner and an active corporate citizen in Shanghai, and by partnering with local non-profit organizations and schools we hope to promote greater awareness of the importance of environment protection in the community", said Murray King, Vice President of Public Affairs, Shanghai Disney Resort, "Events like this help bring our Cast, partners and friends into the community, and create personal connections with nature in ways which can impact positively in our everyday lives".
While development of the Shanghai Disney Resort is still in the construction phase, the resort Cast are already in the second year of their "Adopt-A-Garden" program in Shanghai.

The joint program, in partnership with Roots and Shoots, was first launched in 2012 at the Pudong Jinlu Primary School, and enables primary school students to work alongside Disney Cast to create their own organic school garden and learn more about the importance of food safety and environmental stewardship.
