Tokyo Disney Resorts Attendance for 2012 Record Breaking



Oriental Land Co. announced Monday that total attendance at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea for fiscal 2012 was 27.5 million, up 8.5% on the year and beating the previous record of 27.22 million visitors in fiscal 2008.

New attractions and interactive events pushed up attendance. Toy Story Mania!, an 11.5 billion yen attraction, opened at Tokyo DisneySea in July. Tokyo Disneyland held its Disney's Natsu Matsuri, a summer festival where Mickey Mouse and other popular characters stage a dance competition, in July and August.
Tokyo Disneyland will celebrate its 30th anniversary on April 15, making it likely that another attendance record will be set in fiscal 2013.

 The theme park will fully revamp its daytime parade for the first time in five years and plans to renew Star Tours, a popular Star Wars-themed attraction that is undergoing 7 billion yen in renovations, on May 7.
