New $1.5m interactive ride for Sentosa

Desperados by Sentosa Cineblast is the latest attraction to have been officially installed at the much anticipated, soon-to-be opened Resorts World at Sentosa, off the southern coast of Singapore.

According to Sentosa Cineblast, the US$1.5m ride, which took six months to implement, proved highly popular in its soft opening, attracting more than 8,000 visitors since February.

All systems, equipment and engineers, were flown in from Belgium, and unlike the current rides, Sentosa 4D Magix's Pirates in 4D show and Sentosa Cineblast's Extreme Log Ride, the new attraction requires participation from the audience - the first of its kind in Singapore.

The ride employs a motion-based saddle seat facing a large screen where the video game plays out. The gun-toting players aim at characters and fire using individual motion sensor guns attached to each seat, earning a score for every successful shot.

"What sets Desperados apart," said Mr A Yogesvaran, managing director of Sentosa Cineblast and Sentosa 4D Magix, "is that it is something new, where the patron participates, unlike in most other games available on the island and elsewhere."
